Accessing Mediasite content

Some security policies do prevent the video appearing so if you do have difficulty, please try to view the presentation from an Internet connection outside your network or have your technician people allow Massey's streaming media through your firewall (as http://tur-media-db1.massey.ac.nz/).

The following ports must be allowed by remote sites who wish to view any mediasite content:

  1. TCP/80 (http)
  2. TCP/554 (rtsp)

Sonic Foundry recommends a viewer's computer meet the following system requirements for the best presentation viewing experience with Mediasite Viewer:

Flash equivalent

To provision for maximum accessibility Massey University will be offering Flash equivalent Mediasite Viewers for all Public Presentations as well as other presentation where the "Presentation Owner" has requested this to be done.

Althought the video quality is somewhat reduced we have found this process to be an acceptable interm measure to address cross platform compatibility issues prior to upgrading our system to Mediasite Version 5, Silverlight enabled viewers (Dec2008 - March2009).

Portable - "Published to go"

For those viewing Massey's Mediasite presentations on a slow internet connection or behind a firewall that restricts media streaming, we are able to publish portable versions of all our presentations. Concideration to copyright, Intelectual Poperty (IP) and Privacy will be addressed on request for portable versions. Costs involved in the process may be required to be covered and the Presentation Owner will be required to provide the authority for publishing and distrabution in this way.
